Happy Fourth of July!!! Here is a simple patriotic inspired tablescape that you can easily put together with some red, white and blue.

I arranged red and white flowers into a centerpiece and added these cute American flags from Amazon.

I’m all about effortless entertaining, and in the summer it’s not really ideal to be baking away in a hot kitchen. These festive desserts are perfect for the 4th. I bought mini gluten free red velvet cupcakes from the local market and popped adorable mini American flag toothpicks on them, that I also found on Amazon. I always love including a healthy dessert and made Greek yogurt strawberry parfaits topped with blueberries. The strawberry sauce is super simple to make! Scroll down to the bottom of this post for the recipe.

I love finding festive decor to fill food with like these cute star paper baking cups by Simply Baked. White powdered donuts and cherries add to the theme. I found the glass star bowls on a super sale from Crate and Barrel last year, which are no longer available, but found similar ones on Amazon here! I filled them up with an assortment of fruit mixed with a splash of oj, which makes for another healthy dessert option.

I’m obsessed with my glass carafe from Anthropologie (also no longer available, but found a similar beauty here) paired beautifully with blue juice glasses from Fishs Eddy. Lemonade is my go to drink in the summer. Even if you buy store bought, simply slice some fresh lemons and add them to your pitcher.

Look for colors of red, white and blue around your home and I’m sure you’ll find plenty of things. Tablecloths and dinner napkins with a few American flags is a great way to get into the holiday spirit.

Wishing you a Happy 4th!!!

Homemade Strawberry Sauce

What you’ll need:

  • 1 lb. fresh strawberries, washed, hulled & sliced (can use frozen strawberries as well)
  • ¼ cup coconut sugar (adjust more or less to your preference)
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ lemon, juiced
Directions:
  1. Combine all the ingredients in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Stirring occasionally, bring mixture to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 20 minutes, allowing the strawberries to continue cooking until the mixture has thickened.
  3. Once the mixture has thickened, remove from heat and pour in a glass container and allow to cool completely. Top on your favorite dessert or refrigerate until ready to use. Serve warm or cold.

Makes about 2 cups

*This delicious sauce can be replaced with raspberries, blueberries or blackberries and works delicious as a topping for ice cream, pancakes, waffles, french toast, crepes, cheesecake, pretty much anything!

*Store leftover strawberry sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

*If you have plenty of sauce leftover, you can easily freeze it. Simply add the sauce to a freezer-safe container and place in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to enjoy the sauce again, just remove from the freezer and let it thaw out a bit and reheat it on stovetop over medium low heat.
